Does Lightning Hit Twice?

They always say its a one in a million chance that lightning will strike you twice.  However, if you a participant in the CCHXtreme defensemans camp, it definitely happened.  First a power outtage at All Seasons Ice Arena caused the camp to be relocated to the Rocket Ice Arena, and 5 minutes before taking the ice, Rocket Ice Arena lost power too.  Bad Karma? Not sure. Heard from another parent that in a camp at Fox Valley the previous week, they had lost power.  So strange, isn't it? Why is it that power outtages are so attracted to ice rinks?

What impressed me the most was how the skaters and their parents were so understanding,

and were willing to accept yet another change so that they got their ice time.  Illinois Youth Ice Hockey is booming, and these skaters, like me, LOVE this game. Particularly since the Blackhawks won the cup a few years back, the learn to play ice hockey interest has grown. Whats even more awesome is these kids end up wanting to play year around.  My Summer Pond Hockey League had its most teams registered EVER.  More skaters were interested in ice hockey classes and private and small group lessons. ( Thats what I call job security :).  All kidding aside, I love the fact that our sport has grown and prospered.  It has been stated that Girls Ice Hockey is the fastest growing sport in North America and I believe it.

As we get ready for yet another round of tryouts, fall seasons, and tournaments, I want to wish every child good luck at your evaluations and make it an awesome year. No matter what team you are on, this game promises to make it exciting.
